At Grant Stephens Family Law, our Mediator Georgia Hookings offers a full range of mediation services. Georgia is a qualified Family Mediator with FMCA status. She is able to conduct assessment meetings, sign courts forms when appropriate and offer child consultation.
Georgia has successfully conducted many different types of family mediations and has many testimonials that support her work from both solicitors and clients alike.
Mediation allows families to resolve their disputes in a safe, supported and neutral environment. Mediation can provide the framework for your discussions and a mediator can work with you to open up the channels of communication, allowing you to form your own proposals that are right for your family. Mediators remain impartial at all times and do not take sides or pass judgement.
Mediation can allow families as much time and space as they need, with no outside pressure, to allow you to think through options and decide which is the best way forward for everyone. This means that you will have time to reality test the full implications of proposed arrangements which may involve child arrangements and/or financial matters. Once you have completed this process you can feel readier to implement your decisions and form a legally binding agreement.
Mediation is not appropriate in every case; however you are obligated to attend a MIAM (Mediation Information Assessment Meeting) if you or your solicitor wish to make an application to court. There are some exemptions to this which we would be happy to discuss with you if you feel they may apply.
At Grant Stephens Family Law we keep the pricing of our mediation sessions very transparent, helping you to budget effectively. You will be advised on the expected time frame and/or number of sessions for your individual circumstances at your MIAM and you will only be charged for face to face time. All e-mails, calls, forms and letters are included in this price.
You will be guided and supported at all stages of the mediation process.
Please feel free to contact us at any time to discuss the possibility of mediation.
