Eleri Jones joined the firm as a Partner in May 2017, due to her first-class reputation as a specialist family and private client solicitor. She has significant experience across a broad range of family and probate matter but has a compelling reputation when supporting clients during complicated, challenging and highly emotive family law matters.
Eleri is an appointed SQE1 and SQE2 assessor and question writer via Kaplan. Eleri currently undertakes work in marking the written Functional Legal Knowledge assessments for the SQE1 exams and also assesses the Practical Legal Skills Assessments which tests oral and written skills for the SQE2 exams.
Prior to joining Grant Stephens Family Law, Eleri practised exclusively in the field of family law in a national legal practice for 4 years. She went on to manage a team of family practitioners, responsible for providing supervision and dealing with complex legal matters. As a result, she has substantial knowledge and experience on all aspects of family law and building client relationships, with a focus on complex Children matters.
Eleri is a keen and respected advocate and has extensive experience in attending court with clients. Her court experience has paved the way for her adept, confident and solution-based approach to advising clients, giving them the tools and clarity to consider a practical and pragmatic approach. Clients regularly extol her ability to translate technical legal processes / jargon and praise her for providing them with a realistic estimate of timescales and costs from the outset.
Eleri believes in supporting clients on a proactive basis in reaching an amicable solution to avoid unnecessary court proceedings. She also promotes alternative means of dispute resolution and can guide clients through whatever process elected, to bring matters to a swift conclusion.
As part of Eleri’s management influence, she helped to establish Wills and Probate Department at Grant Stephens Family Law after recognising the unmet legal need of existing clients. She is the Head of this fast-growth department, having previously undertaken extensive work with high value estate matters and drafted complex and lengthy Wills in a Bristol firm.
Eleri has experience of drafting Lasting Power of Attorney documents and Deputy Orders so is well placed to provide specific guidance to clients wishing to obtain advice relating to these fields. The firm has seen a steady and profitable increase of instructions to this department – most notably from new clients and referring organisations.
Eleri is a fluent Welsh speaker and is happy to correspond with clients through the medium of Welsh throughout the matter – which is often incredibly useful in Private Client work. Being able to converse in your Mother tongue – particularly across / between generations within families - can help clients to relax, feel better informed and more confident during the process.
