Our Fees
We aim for our clients to feel supported and reassured when they use our services, and one way of achieving that is to offer a fair and transparent fee system, so you never get caught out by spiralling legal costs.
The bespoke service we provide ensures that you receive the care, support and guidance you need, without paying for extras that aren’t required.
Our services are usually charged on an hourly basis, and the rate you pay will depend on the level of solicitor you are assigned. Before we undertake any chargeable work on your behalf, we will ensure we have discussed and agreed this rate with you and provided an estimate of the overall cost of your case.
Our Initial Consultation
At Grant Stephens Family Law, we offer an initial consultation where the first 30 minutes are free of charge. Any time that is spent in the consultation after those first 30 minutes is charged at a rate of £200 + VAT per hour.
In the case where your initial consultation lasts 1 hour, you would be charged £100 + VAT (£120).
Please note that we do not limit our initial consultations to 30 minutes as it usually takes a while to gain a full understanding of your individual situation.
Do the free 30 minutes apply to everyone?
The free 30 minute initial consultation applies to most of our clients, however, if there are ongoing proceedings, you would not be eligible

Our Billing Process
At Grant Stephens Family Law, we send invoices out to our clients at the end of every month. Your invoice will include a clear and detailed breakdown of every task completed by your solicitor and the amount that was charged for that task.
If you have any queries about your invoice, you can contact our accounts department, and they will happily walk you through your invoice, ensuring that you have a full understanding of it before you have to pay.
